Kaitlin and Thiago are off to Bogota, Colombia to represent our dojo on the US National Team for the JKA PanAmerican Games!
They were selected at the National Camp in June, and have been training hard for the tournament, including extra training on Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday! We are very proud that they will represent us. They are joining members from other JKA/WF America dojos, as well as members of the JKA/AF who all make up our National Team. They join other karateka from 16 countries – more than 600 competitors!
This is the first time that our organization has participated in this international event, and we are looking forward to even more international events.
While we are on the subject, we also hope that we will have members from our dojo selected to be on the US team for the JKA World Championships in Tokyo, Japan in Fall 2020. There will be Adults, Seniors, and Youth Black Belts on the team. Those of you who are youth brown belts, keep training hard so that you can pass your Shodan exam and be eligible! Tryouts will be in early Spring.
