Maybe you’ve always wanted to try karate. Or you used to train years ago, and are thinking about starting again. Whatever your circumstances, we would love to have you come train with us! Because our dojo is beginner- and family-friendly, we have children and adult beginners. All you need to start is to come by the dojo about ten minutes before class starts, and we will get you on the floor and training!
We carry on Master Shojiro Koyama’s belief that what we do is educational karate, and that karate can be lifetime exercise. Our members range in age from 5 years old to over 75 years old. As a result, we teach karate for everyone.
The Student Handbook will give you an overview of our dojo, a brief history of our style, and all kinds of other important information!

Class Times and Descriptions
Morning Class Monday, Wednesday, Friday
11am-12pm Adult class, all levels
This class is best for students who have some background, but all levels are welcome. This class typically has one instructor, and varies in focus across the three types of training (kata, kihon, and kumite) each day.
Afternoon Class Monday, Wednesday, Friday
5:30-6:30pm All ages, all levels
This class is best for beginning students and for youth. The class begins with all levels doing warm ups and some work together as a class. After this, students are put into groups with additional instructors by age and/or rank to focus on specific training at their level. Smaller groups allow instructors to give specific training to students based on their level and abilities.
Evening Class Monday, Wednesday, Friday
6:30-7:30pm Adults, all levels
This class is open to all adults, and youth at the brown belt (3rd kyu to 1st kyu) and black belt levels. This class has one instructor; beginning students may be taught/tutored by an additional instructor. While this class may seem intimidating (this is the course most of our advanced students train in), training is flexible, and color belts/kyu ranks are welcome.
Conditioning Class Saturday
9:00-10:00am All ages, all levels
This class focuses primarily on basics (stance, techniques), core strength, and stretching. Drills help establish proper stances, path of technique, and study of these foundational elements of karate. In addition, this class focuses on examination basics the week or two prior to an exam.
Kata Class Saturday
10:00-11:00am All ages, all levels
This class provides focused training on kata (forms). Kyu/Color Belt students train the katas up to their level, then work in detail on their current assigned kata. For black belts, there is detailed work on the monthly kata.
