Getting Started
Maybe you’ve always wanted to try karate. Or you used to train years ago, and are thinking about starting again. Whatever your circumstances, we would love to have you come train with us! Because our dojo is beginner- and family-friendly, we have children and adult beginners. All you need to start is to come by the dojo about ten minutes before class starts, and we will get you on the floor and training!
We carry on Master Shojiro Koyama’s belief that what we do is educational karate, and that karate can be lifetime exercise. Our members range in age from 5 years old to over 75 years old. As a result, we teach karate for everyone.
The Student Handbook will give you an overview of our dojo, a brief history of our style, and all kinds of other important information!
If you have questions, drop us a note through the Contact Us page, or email us at arizonajka@gmail.com.
Class Times and Descriptions
Our class schedule has changed! While the morning class remains reserved for adults only, the evening classes have changed. In general, classes held from 6-6:45pm are for White through Purple Belts; classes held from 7-7:45pm are appropriate for all Brown and Black belt levels, and classes held from 8-8:30pm are for black belts only.
We have revised our class schedule to ensure smaller groups of students for each class, so that we can maintain distance during training and to clean the dojo between classes. Brown and Black belts are welcome at any class, but color belts should attend classes at their level. Color Belts have priority in signing up for classes at their level.
Please sign up for classes, especially evening classes, so that we can ensure that no more than 10 students are training in each class. If you have not signed up and the class is full, you will not be allowed to train. Also, if you have signed up for a class and cannot make it, please cancel your sign-up so that someone else may fill your spot.
